Mission: Ecuador

Eye Care: Weeden Team

Saturday: El Ejido and San Jose Alto

As is traditional with our teams, we went to El Ejido park to buy souvenirs from the Indigenous there. As usual, we had fun bartering and picking up lots of beautiful hand-crafted items from the artisans.

Later, we went on to San Jose Alto, another church in the Calderon area. We spent a half day with them, attended 140 people, and ended the day with a nice service where the team was given special handmade gifts from the community.

We got to see 3 volcanoes on this day all at the same time from the same spot. We also realized that 90% of all the people we were seeing had the same problem with sun damage to their eyes. It is called "ptergyium", and is in epidemic form here in Ecuador.
