This past week, Efrain and I drove a number of representatives from the Indigenous communities from around Ecuador to a small mountain community near Cayambe volcano. It is up around 11.500 feet and the people are a another level more Quichua (Indian) in culture than those I work with near Quito. They are strictly farmers, mostly growing potatoes and onions. Their womens clothes are colorful, their skin is rosy red from the weather, and they speak more Quichua than Spanish. They are also very shy people and seemed very happy... a simple country folk not yet burdened with the complex world the rest of us live in. I hope you enjoy the photos.
