"Beyond Words" Ministry Trip:
Galapagos Islands

Painting the Creation Story In the Birthplace of Evolution

A Dream Come True...

The "Beyond Words" ministry team painted these fantastic murals on some of the most prominent walls on the Island.

Beyond Words Ministry, a Christian outreach program of Alliance Academy from Quito, Ecuador, directed by Deborah Bond was privileged to spend spring break of 2008 doing the unbelievable... painting the creation story on the very islands that gave birth to the theory of evolution by Charles Darwin. It was an incredible and blessed experience, and the reception was surprising as well. Most people were grateful to have the creation story portrayed in such a beautiful manner. All commented on its beauty, and we passed out over 2,000 tracts especially created for this trip.

Team members: Debbie Bond (leader), Rod Bond, Andrea Bond, Rachel Bond, Ron Borman, Ethan Borman, Sarah Borman, Dan Koenig, Brady Koenig, Jon and Jeni Fields, Francisco Castro, Francis Goyes, Yoo Bin, Esther Moon, Matthew Weir, Trevor Weeks, David LaRosa, along with guests Kenny Digby and Erica Noyes from Corinth, MS.

We were hosted by Hosana church, and they took great care of us including putting us up at their camp. We did get plenty of time to see the incredible sites of Santa Cruz Island, the most populated of the Galapagos Islands. The church members made sure we had guides, boats, and went beyond the call of duty to see that we were extremely well taken care of.

Some surprises were that we were well received, and there was more interest in having us back to paint more murals. Many stopped to talk about what we were doing, and we took the opportunity to share Jesus with as many as were willing. It was simply a major blessing to have this opportunity.
