Mission Team: January 2007

The mission team from Alcorn Baptist Association from Corinth, Mississippi, and a small contingent from Texas.
Alcorn Baptist Association, our home association in Corinth, Mississippi and a small contingent from Texas came to Ecuador this past January and took part in something extraordinary... working on a church in the mountains that has been in progress for 10 years and participating in it's dedication. That in itself is not so extraordinary, but what it represents is. This church represents the frontier of the Gospel; beyond this church, up a long and windy cobblestone road, there is no more evangelical presence. 20 years ago, this church faced brutal persecution as it struggled to take root. Now, today, there is heavy resistance to the Gospel up this road. So this church represents an outpost; a launching point for national missionaries and for future teams to carry the Gospel to the lost. This is the heart of "Project: Caleb", the name we have given to this ministry at Chinchinloma where Linaje Escogido Church is, and beyond into the darkness for the Kingdom of God.
Team members: Kenny Digby, Ronnie Martin, Ken Weeden, Rachel Mitchell, Jonathan Marsh, Ricky Marsh, Richard Tenhet, Sammy Kay, Lisa Smith, and from Texas: Nolan Richey, Deborah Cason, Jake Richey, and Adrienne Richey. translator: Fernando Bassler. Our ministry was focused on construction work at Linaje Escogido Church, but we did get to see our bus driver come to the Lord, and spend some time playing with the kids. We also got to visit 'New Life Baptist Church' in the 'Chambitola' community where we are starting a new work even farther out in the mountains. During the service we saw a number of folks come to the Lord. We also got to experience 'Middle of the World' Park, 'Dios Viviente' BC at Parada Siete (a sister church), and "Tony's Place" in the coastal rainforest.
