Deborah's Art Gallery

Welcome to my Gallery! I draw and paint what affects me. Since my heart is in Christ, my work often reflects this message. My background includes a Bachelor's Degree from Kutztown State University, which let to a career as an illustrator for both outdoor and historical publications. Today, I mainly concentrate on Watercolor, Gouache, Wax resist, and Graphite... with people as my favorite subject matter.

Today we are serving the Lord as missionaries in Ecuador, South America through "NBRI", a faith-based ministry. My art talent is a significant part of reaching the lost here, and purchasing these pieces will contribute to our ministry.

Enjoy the visit and God Bless!

This is my webpage as it was while we were in Ecuador, simply for "old memories" sake. My current art webpage is The Art Sanctuary.

The Missionary Kid

How do you tell a child with no hope in this world about Jesus? They always steal your heart!

The mystery of an indigenous group! In the shadow of their mountain, their world is rarely one outsiders get to see!

Oh the fun the "Casa Gabriel" boys and I had painting this mural!

Out of the Ashes

Music Man

Who is He?

One Step at a Time

Out of the Ashes

This beautiful lady was quite literally drawn out of the ashes. After layering this paper with volcanic ash from Pichincha, an active volcano in Ecuador, she was then created "out of the ashes". Ashes to ashes, dust to dust!
Music Man

The music of Ecuador.
I have yet to get over the beat of this beautiful country, and the musicians here. The unstoppable movement was fun to try and capture.
Who is He?

He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the Lamb of God! (Revelation 5:5, 6) Do you see the lamb inside the lion's face? This little girl is looking our way for an explanation of who he is... He is listening to hear what we have to say (or not say). I have become very aware of the responsibility of sharing our precious Jesus with others in these end times.

One Step at a Time

One step at a time is all that God said he'd show us. I painted this while struggling with this issue. In the end, I Praise Him!

His word is a lamp unto my feet and a light for my path.

- Psalm 119:105

Palm Sunday

Known often as "The Triumphful Entry". A day when many hailed Christ as the long awaited King coming in the name of the Lord. Then three days later they crucified Him. Have we really changed in the last 2,000 years?

Here is a closeup of the center of the painting, showing Christ riding in on the Donkey as the people cheer.

And Noah Went Forth...

I sometimes wonder what it must have been like for Noah to have first faced a new world... a new beginning for mankind. I really enjoyed researching the animals, and did individual sketches of each set before starting the painting. One sketch example is the lions. Here are some other closeups from the actual painting of the owls, the lions, and the hawk.

The Unknown God

Acts 17:23

This is an inspirational piece that took about 6 months to complete. It's a walk through the Bible featuring Christ. Painted on hand-made papyrus reed paper imported from Egypt, and the fact that this type of paper was being used during Biblical times is as much a part of the artwork as the theme itself.
Here are some closeups of the border... one showing Jerusalem rebuilt, Christ as the sacrificed Lamb of God, and Christ as the Word of God. Also please find another closeup of Solomon's Temple, and King David as King of the Israelite Nation. The final one is Jesus' baptism, and Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey.
(Please note that these scans were taken from a postcard, and thus the quality is somewhat compromised)
