Oakland BC Returns to Quito

Project: Great Commission- Bond Home Page

Oakland Baptist Church, our home church in Corinth, Mississippi was a major blessing; A blessing to me, a blessing to all the churches they worked with, and I know THEY got blessed as well!

Team members: Billy Taylor (team leader), Jerome Baker, Ronnie Cummins, Linda Clemons, Teresa Fett, Janice James, Teretha Wallace, JoAnn Wilbanks.

Translators: Fernando Bassler and Salome Elizalde.

Our ministry this time was with kids and youth, through organized games, devotions, crafts, and music. The theme was "you are a new creature", using the butterfly as a visual aide. Dr. Ronnie even gave a quick "how to care for your teeth" lecture at the end, along with free toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss for each kid.

Our schedule each day was basically: something cultural or informative in the mornings (the kids didn't get out of school until 130pm or so), Drive to the church (we worked at 5 different churches from 30 minutes away to 2 hours away), "Kid Outreach program" from 2pm - 5pm, supper from 530pm - 630pm with the church, and closing service from 630 - 8pm. We then drove back to the hotel, and had a final devotional and debriefing time. Most nights it was 10pm - 1030pm before we were "dismissed" to be on our own.

Below are the days the team was here; each with their own photos and stories.
